Breaking down the Bears’ Thursday practice:
Concerns arise
Bears running back D’Andre Swift, who had been impeccably healthy in training camp, left late in practice with an apparent left leg injury. Wide receiver Rome Odunze got hurt, too, and left in the first half of practice with what looked like a right leg injury. Odunze had a stress fracture in his left foot most of last season.
At running back, the Bears already are down backup Kyle Monangai (knee), and coach Ben Johnson said Tuesday he is week-to-week.
Dress rehearsal
The team went a little over two hours, but took a 10-minute break in the air-conditioned Walter Payton Center in the middle of it to simulate halftime. They did that with the Titans last week as well.
Booker back
Defensive end Austin Booker was out the past week or so with a groin injury, but was full-go in practice Wednesday. He was running with the first team and doing all drills.
Just in case
The Bears spent a few minutes of practice working on the rare scenario of a fair catch and free kick. That comes up less than once a season, but it allows a team to try a field goal without any opposing rush, and kicker Cairo Santos made it comfortably from about 58 yards.
Waiting for Turner
Bears defensive lineman Shemar Turner was at practice in full uniform, but watched from the side. Turner tore his ACL in Week 8 last season and is on the physically unable-to-perform list to start this one, meaning he’ll miss at least the first four games.

This offseason, Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen decided he wanted his defensive line to get more explosive and play with more energy. Those traits are what made the 24-year-old South African the defensive star of training camp.
