Bears report: K Cairo Santos, CB Tyrique Stevenson to play vs. Eagles

Breaking down what happened Saturday at Halas Hall:

Green light for Santos

The Bears were never too worried about kicker Cairo Santos’ injured right hip (he is right-footed) and expect to have him Monday against the Eagles despite missing two practices. He had no game designation on the injury report and practiced in full Friday.

Stevenson’s turnaround

After coach Ben Johnson initially had labeled cornerback Tyrique Stevenson as ‘‘week-to-week,’’ implying he was unlikely to play Monday, he said Saturday that Stevenson had improved faster than the training staff anticipated. He was limited in practice Friday and Saturday and is listed as questionable for the game.

Eagles updates

The Bears got the Eagles’ final injury report and learned that running back Saquon Barkley (stinger), wide receiver DeVonta Smith (hamstring) and defensive tackle Jalen Carter (wrist) are good to go. Pass rusher Jonathan Greenard (chest muscle) practiced in full Saturday and is questionable. Tight end Dallas Goedert (knee) is out.

Not yet

Johnson said left tackle Ozzy Trapilo, who eventually is expected to take over for Braxton Jones, won’t play Monday. Trapilo has been working his way back from a major knee injury and practiced in full all week. He isn’t on the injury report, but the Bears will give him at least another week.

Unresolved discrepancy

As of Saturday afternoon, the Bears hadn’t gotten a resolution on a potential kickoff-rules issue pertaining to the Eagles. The Eagles have used a 12th man as a holder on kickoffs without a tee, specifically to tilt and push on the ball to create an advantage on ‘‘dirty kicks.’’ Bears special-teams coordinator Richard Hightower said that goes against the spirit of the rules and was hoping it would be banned. The NFL has been mulling it throughout the week.
