Body of man, 38, found on Hollicombe beach after RNLI search

The body of a missing man in Devon has been found on Hollicombe beach.

Robert Sutton, 38, was reported missing yesterday evening by people concerned for his welfare.

The RNLI, Coastguard, and Devon and Cornwall Police launched a search for Mr Sutton.

Last night, around 11.45pm, they found the body of a man on Hollicombe beach. Mr Sutton’s family has been made aware of the tragic discovery.

Police said formal identification hasn’t taken place, and the death isn’t believed to be suspicious.

Devon and Cornwall Police said: ‘Emergency services searching for 38-year-old Robert Sutton, who had been reported missing from Paignton on the night of Saturday 16 May, have found the body of a man.

‘Robert’s family have been informed of this development. Police, HM Coastguard and the RNLI conducted searches of the area after Robert was reported missing at around 7.40pm.’

Tributes have flowed in for Mr Sutton. One wrote on Facebook: ‘I hope you’re at peace now, dude.’

Another added: ‘Very sad news, thinking of his friends and family – sending love.’
