Boy, 4, dies days after being pulled from burning house by hero dad who also passed away

A FOUR-year-old boy has died after his dad battled through flames to save him from a house fire.

Ethan Mason suffered burns to 70 per cent of his body and was rushed to hospital with his father after the blaze on Warrington Road in the early hours of Sunday.

His father died from his injuries yesterday – while young Ethan was in an induced coma.

However, cops have now revealed he too has lost his life.

A statement from Greater Manchester Police reads: “A four-year-old boy injured in a house fire on Warrington Road in Wigan at the weekend has now sadly passed away. Emergency services responded to reports of a house fire at around 2.30am on Sunday 14 April 2024.

“A 45-year-old man sadly died from his injuries on the day, with four other people receiving treatment.

“The four-year-old boy, who suffered serious injuries, died in hospital this morning.

“Following initial enquiries into the fire, officers do not believe that there are any suspicious circumstances involved.

“Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue are continuing to investigate the causes of the fire and are in regular contact with officers.”

It comes after Ethan’s aunt Jessica revealed he was undergoing major surgery.

On GoFundMe, she wrote: “We are all absolutely heartbroken, but my sister and her other children have lost absolutely everything. Please keep hoping and praying for him.”
