Chicago man charged with attempted murder charges in Oak Lawn stabbing

A Chicago man is facing attempted murder charges in Oak Lawn stabbing, according to Oak Lawn police.

Michael Duplessis Jr., 42, is charged with attempted first degree murder, police said.

Duplessis was in an argument with another man, who had asked him to leave the area near a Jewel-Osco at 8757 South Ridgeland Ave., when Duplessis allegedly spat on him before they physically fought, police said. Duplessis then allegedly stabbed him multiple times.

The injured man was taken to Christ Medical Center in critical condition where he underwent emergency surgery, police said.

Duplessis was ordered held awaiting trial at a detention hearing Monday, police said. He’s due back in court Wednesday.

He was previously charged in November 2025 with aggravated battery of a victim over 60-years-old, for which he was sentenced to a year in prison, according to court records.

Duplessis was given credit for 194 days served while the trial was ongoing, and was released earlier this year.
