Cops are taking up to 17.5 hours to respond to calls on yobs in some part of England

COPS are taking up to 17.5 hours to respond to yobs wreaking havoc in some parts of England.

New figures from a Freedom of Information request show reaction times to anti-social behaviour incidents shot up 37 per cent since 2021.

Police in Suffolk and Norfolk take over 17 hours on average to respond to anti-social behaviour complaints

Last year on average it took three hours and 40 minutes for an officer to come and fight off brutes.

And the disturbing stats show families are battling a postcode lottery when it comes to their safety.

In Suffolk residents waited on average 17.5 hours last year for help with yobs.

Norfolk wasn’t far off at 17 hours and 29 minutes.

In Cambridgeshire response times hit 11.5 hours.

And across London waiting periods more than tripled, up a shocking 353 per cent.

The figures come months after a crime survey for England and Wales found more than a third of people in England and Wales witnessed anti-social behaviour in the year to September 2023.

With yobs becoming feeling increasingly emboldened, forces recorded a staggering one million incidents.

Lib Dems Leader Ed Davey said: “For its victims, anti-social behaviour can be relentless, overwhelming and deeply distressing.

“Being left to wait hours, wondering if a police officer will turn up and help, only adds to that stress.

“The British people deserve to feel confident that if they do fall victim to crime, the police will turn up swiftly.

“That’s why it’s time to finally restore proper community policing, with officers focused on their local neighbourhoods.”
