Drones return to light up skies over Rose Bowl for July 4th

For the second year in a row, Pasadena’s Rose Bowl celebrated the nation’s birthday without bangs, booms and pyrotechnics on Saturday, July 4.

With city officials embracing a citywide ban on fireworks, the FoodieLand food festival again presented a high-tech light show as its grand finale, featuring scores of choreographed aerial drones to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary.

The event replaced AmericaFest, the long-running fireworks event that ran for decades at the iconic stadium before running into financial issues.
