The Garden Railroad is at the perfect height for little eyes to watch model trains wind their way through elaborate sets and towns. With over 10,000 feet of train tracks and scenes depicting California from the 1850s to the present day, it is sure to captivate your little ones’ attention.
The Flower and Garden Pavilion with the theme “bloomiverse” is an immersive floral world with colorful murals, lights and the sounds of nature and waterfalls to enjoy.
The Bob Barker Marionette Show can be seen Sundays at the fair at 1 p.m., 3 p.m., and 5 p.m., and can be a great way to entertain the littles with storytelling and puppetry.
Barnyard Racers are great for smaller members to get in on the action of racing, albeit at a much smaller size. Geese, pigs and lambs race around a small, specialized track to victory.
A quiet moment
Nestled behind the Millard Sheets building, you will find a shady grove of redwood trees and plenty of tables to find a quieter spot to take a break, feed the baby or have a nap.
A mother’s room for feeding can be found near the Grandstand and the lost child office.
The Hill is also a nice, shady, and quieter side of the fair that is stroller-friendly with a path that leads to picnic tables at the top for a feeling of seclusion during the busy fair.
There are several bathrooms available throughout the fairgrounds that have changing tables.
Operating days and hours
The fair runs until May 31, Thursday through Sunday, and Memorial Day, Monday, May 25. Hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
Children under the age of five have free admission to the fair. Strollers and wagons can also be rented at the blue, yellow, and red entrance gates. Strollers are $15, wagons are $20, and double strollers are $20.
