Lauren Boebert Flipped Her Vote After GOP Fight, “I Was Promised a Spot on the Committee”

U.S. Representative Lauren Boebert (R-CO) on Thursday slammed her fellow Republicans in the House for “unanimously” voting against her amendments to the Farm Bill. Boebert wrote on social media: “I filed multiple non controversial amendments to the Farm Bill to help rural Coloradans.”

The Republican congresswoman gave a nod to her Democratic colleague, Rep. Joe Neguse (D-CO), who asked the Rules Committee to consider Boebert’s amendments on the House floor. But according to Boebert, “The Republicans on the committee unanimously voted against them and they will not even be considered for a floor vote.”

Boebert added: “Farmers and ranchers in my district are counting on me to be their voice in DC and our ‘leadership’ is not letting me do my job.” Exercising her leverage in committee, Boebert declared, “I am a NO on the Rule.”

Hours after her “NO” rule threat, Boebert got enough of her agenda implemented to vote “YES” on the farm bill. “I have always said I’m here to deliver results for the people of Colorado, and that’s exactly what I am doing today,” she wrote. “After some hard-fought, good-faith negotiations with @SpeakerJohnson, @CongressmanGT, and @RepAndyHarrisMD, I voted ‘YES’ to move the farm bill forward.”

Boebert explained: “I successfully got my amendments included Agriculture Appropriations bill today. My amendments will officially designate millet as a specialty crop, which is a huge deal for our eastern plains farmers. I also secured the inclusion of my Finish the Arkansas Valley Conduit Act, ensuring that we finally bring clean, reliable water to the folks who have been waiting decades for it. I voted yes because I secured a seat at the table. I have been promised a spot on the Farm Bill Conference Committee, where I will be a lead negotiator to ensure my CREP Improvement Act is in the final version of the bill.”
