Oak Park police are investigating a report of antisemitic vandalism, the department announced.
The incident was reported Wednesday in the 300 block of Home Avenue, and detectives have canvassed the area and reviewed security footage, according to a release from Oak Park police. It’s currently being investigated as criminal damage to property, but hate crime charges could be filed, spokesperson Dan Yopchick said.
“Acts of antisemitism have no place in Oak Park,” Village President Vicki Scaman said in a statement. “Our village prides itself on being a welcoming, diverse community and incidents like this one are deeply painful, not just for those directly affected, but for our entire Jewish community and all residents who value inclusion.”
Oak Park police are working with other departments in the area to identify any possible trends or patterns of similar incidents.
