I caught one of Britain’s biggest carp weighing more than a Great Dane & it took 2 DAYS

ONE of the biggest carp in Britain has been caught by a female angler who spent 48 hours patiently stalking it.

Naomi Turner landed the 72lb 12oz monster, nicknamed Pashleys, after changing tactics two days into her three-day session.

The fish is the largest caught by a woman in Britain

The fish — which weighs more than a great dane — is the largest caught by a woman in Britain.

Naomi said: “It was the moment I’d been waiting and hoping for.

“I’d wanted to catch Pashley for a while now but never in a million years did I actually think it would happen.

“I am still buzzing and think I will be for a while.”

Naomi landed the giant mirror at supercarp hotspot, Holme Fen Fishery, near Ely, Cambs.

She had been fishing in shallower waters for 48 hours but, with time running out, she upped sticks and tried her luck in deeper water.

Within two hours, the fish took her bait.

But it proved a tricky battle as it needed patiently steering out of a weedbed before using its giant weight to keep Naomi at bay.

She said: “A moment of euphoria and utter excitement erupted as I realised what was finally in my landing net.”

Her catch is heavier than the official British mirror carp record of 68lb 1oz — but is unlikely to be recognised because of strict rules around feeding.
