Boulder police are investigating after a University of Colorado student living off campus reported an armed burglary early Friday morning.
The male student woke up around 3 a.m. to an unknown man going through his belongings and chased the man out of the house, said police spokesperson Jamie Barker.
While running out of the house, the burglary suspect yelled out that he had a gun, but there was no visual of the weapon and officers couldn’t confirm the man was armed, Barker said.
Boulder police dispatch received the initial call at 3:08 a.m. and were on-scene in the 1000 block of Pleasant Street, near 10th Street and the West End District, shortly after.
The suspect has not been located, and Boulder police detectives are searching for a 5-foot, 10-inch white man with a darker complexion, gray hoodie and multi-color hat, Barker said.
CU Boulder issued a shelter-in-place for the area near the house at 3:31 a.m., but lifted the order at 4:19 a.m., according to university emergency alert records.
Anyone with information about the incident or suspect should call the Boulder police nonemergency line at 303-441-3333 or email Sgt. Patrick Meehan at meehanp@bouldercolorado.gov.
