Norman will be saying her goodbyes to fans and co-hosts after her current contract expires, Daily Mail reported on Thursday, April 2.

According to the outlet, the decision was made by the network to not renew her contract.

“Her contract was up. There was a decision not to renew,” Daily Mail reported.

One day prior to Daily Mail’s report, Oliver Darcy’s Status newsletter shared the news that Norman would not be returning.

ABC has not announced a replacement for Norman as of publication.

According to the New York Post, Norman’s last day at “GMA” remains unclear.

Who Is Janai Norman?

Norman is a television journalist who began her career at ABC in 2011 as an intern, according to her bio on the network’s website.

After graduating from the University of Missouri-Columbia, she went on to work for local news networks in Columbia, Missouri, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Orlando, Florida, before moving to New York.

“Prior to her role as co-anchor, Norman was a correspondent for ABC News based in New York, reporting for multiple ABC News programs and platforms,” her bio explains. “As a correspondent, Norman covered a wide range of topics, from politics to entertainment and sports. She covered major historical moments, including the COVID-19 pandemic and protests following the death of George Floyd. She also hosted the Pop News segment for the weekend edition of ‘Good Morning America’ and helped launch the second hour of Saturday’s ‘GMA’ in October 2019.”

In recent years, Norman has been a co-anchor of “Good Morning America” on Saturday and Sunday, taking over following Dan Harris’ exit, as well as “ABC News Live Weekend.”

“Norman appeared in the Hulu special ‘Breaking the Mental Health Stigma for Black Women’ and spoke about her challenges and journey with mental health,” according to her bio.

The mother of three went viral while pregnant with one of her children after nearly smacking co-anchor Kenneth Moton due to a misunderstanding. When her unborn child kicked, Norman believed it was Moton poking her belly, and instinctively flinched.
