The more you know about Fallout 76’s radtoads the better, as they offer not just a challenging fight but lots of loot and experience points.

It’s a great time to be a fan of the Fallout franchise, as the TV show adaptation has boosted the popularity of the video games with new and returning players resulting in 1,000,000 fans playing Fallout 76 in just one day.

Fallout: New Vegas and Fallout 4 have also seen spikes in their player numbers, and the latter will probably stay one of the most popular PC games for some time, with the launch of its next gen update on Thursday.

As so many fans are playing Fallout 76 now, it’s important to know about the dangers of the radtoads, where you can find them, and how to deal with them.

Radtoads are mutated toads that use their long tongue to attack you at a distance. If they’re attacked, they unleash a poisonous gas and send their offspring to swarm at you.

That’s not even all, they can also release eggs that function as explosive mines. So it’s best to be smart when approaching one.

They’re formidable creatures that you will encounter at some point, but it’s also good to seek them out, as they bring decent loot when you kill them, are part of certain in-game missions, and are good pets that will defend your C.A.M.P when tamed.

Radtoad locations in Fallout 76

You can find radtoads in six different locations in the open-world setting of Appalachia:

Grafton – close to the centre of the map, north-east of Eastern Regional Penitentiary.

The Sludge Hole – all the way south on the map, just south of the Atlas Observatory.

Beckwith Farm – in the mid-west section of the map, just east of Big Fred’s BBQ Shack.

Will appear during the The Path to Enlightenment event at the Landview Lighthouse.

Will appear during the Fasnacht Day event, as the first wave of enemies.

Can appear during the Tea Time event at The Giant Teapot, near the water tower.

How to kill or tame a radtoad

When trying to kill a radtoad you want to keep your distance, as it can only attack you at a medium distance and is slow to catch up to you. Another tip is to use a sniper rifle and the critical hit function, so that your shots deal more damage.

As for taming a radtoad, and most other creatures, you have to first equip the Animal Friend perk card, from the charisma category.

You also need to have a C.A.M.P deployed before trying to tame it, and you must at least match the level of the radtoad, if not exceed it.

Once all that is sorted, all you need to do is aim your weapon at the creature and a message will pop up asking if you want to tame it. You won’t always succeed, but if it works the roadtoad will be sent to your C.A.M.P.
