Vogue Williams has shared just how ‘disappointed’ she is in Red Hot Chilli Peppers singer Anthony Kiedis for once dating a 19-year-old, 31 years his junior.
The 63-year-old rock legend is known for having large age-gap relationships. Notably, in 2013, when he was 50-years-old, he dated Australian model Helena Vestergaard, who was only 19 at the time.
They broke up after almost two years together before parting ways, with the music artist revealing just how emotionally wrecked he was left by the break-up at the time.
Vogue, 40, however, has heavily criticised the band frontman for dating someone so much younger than himself.
‘Do you know who else I find really disappointing, hasn’t broken the law, but really disappointing cause I really like the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Anthony Kiedis,’ she began.
Reflecting on the situation on podcast My Therapist Ghosted Me, she exclaimed: ‘Dude, what are you talking about?’
Her co-host Joanne McNally continued: ‘I just accept now that most men are drawn to significantly younger women. That’s all I’m gonna say. It is what it is. I don’t think there’s any getting away from it.
‘We judge it, but it’s not going away, it’s not going to change.’
Although she defended ‘it’s not all men’, Vogue continued to express her confusion over large age-gaps, wondering ‘what am I going to talk to, let’s say, a 16-year-old about?’
‘How was school? Did you have fun in school with your friends? Did you get your new pencil case? It’s September coming up…’
Joanne was having none of it, adding: ‘It’s rock stars like him that can get away with it because no 19-year-old wants to be going out with some ale lad who’s driving a Toyota Corolla around town, d’you know what I mean?
‘They want to be going out with a millionaire rock star who’s going to treat them like a princess and they’re going to have a gorgeous life and he’s cool. He’s in the Red Hot Chilli Peppers.’
Vogue shared that her husband Spencer Matthews ‘loves’ the band but when she told him about Anthony’s relationship history ‘he was like: ‘Ugh, just because you can doesn’t mean you should’.
For Anthony, the heartbreak from his split from Helena fuelled the lyrics of Red Hot Chilli Peppers’ album The Getaway.
‘Lyrically, I’m embarrassed to say, a 2-year relationship that completely fell apart like a nuclear bomb, just left me feeling pretty raw and available to the emotional universe for writing.
‘So even though the relationship was a bit of a disaster, I feel that in some way, I did get something out of it, which was about half the songs on this record,’ he told BBC Radio at the time.
Nowadays, he’s continued the trend of dating much younger women in his new relationship with 30-year-old Eileen Kelly, who is half his age.
The couple started dating in late 2025, and in April this year, sex educator Eileen wrote an essay for the publication Vogue discussing why she went for an older man after finding no one her age range that matched what she was looking for.
‘It’s my first time dating someone significantly older, and sometimes I joke with friends that I’ve been missing out my whole life,’ she said, adding that the pair met at a birthday party and got talking.
Impressed by how put together he is, she reflected: ‘My much older boyfriend seems genuinely excited to be with me—not like he’s biding his time before he can swipe for someone better.’
She noted that he’s aware just how ‘lucky’ he is to be with her.
Anthony is not alone in having a high-profile age-gap relationship. Cher, 80, has a 40-year age gap with her boyfriend Alexandar, 39. Similarly, Holland Taylor, 82, has been romancing partner Sarah Paulson, 50, for years.
Elsewhere, there’s 35-year-old Aaron Taylor-Johnson and his wife, Sam Taylor-Johnson, 58. And Jeff Goldblum, 73, is enjoying wedded life with his wife, Emilie Livingstone, 42.
