A PC gamer has shared the story of how their rig saved their life, after they were fired upon by their neighbour’s dog.
Last year, we reported on a story where someone was nearly shot by a bullet that came through their wall while they were asleep and were only saved by their collection of Pokémon cards.
Now, an eerily similar incident has happened to someone else, except this time it was their gaming PC that took the hit. Also, the culprit was apparently a neighbour’s dog.
This is according to angelbabyzz on Reddit, who shared pictures of their now wrecked PC as proof of the incident, as well as the bullet that hit it.
It should come as no surprise that this took place in the US (just like the Pokémon story), though in this case the bullet was deflected when it hit angelbabyzz’s PC, according to the police who investigated the incident.
This happened in the middle of the night, as the sound of their PC being shot, plus glass hitting their face, woke angelbabyzz up. Presumably that means their PC was located near their bed, although thankfully there were no serious injuries.

As for how this even happened in the first place, angelbabyzz’s neighbour claimed that their dog accidentally discharged one of her guns.
While angelbabyzz has expressed some scepticism as to that explanation, they noted that the neighbour ‘was more messed up about it than I was and could barely speak from crying so hard and her whole body was shaking, and she just kept apologising over and over.’
In a subsequent update, angelbabyzz explained that the neighbour has had their gun confiscated and they’ve been charged with criminal negligence. Plus, her insurance will likely cover the damage, although she’s apparently offered to pay for it out of pocket if needed.
‘Between the criminal charge, her gun being confiscated, the cost of replacing everything, and her constant apologies (which I’m still getting multiple times a day) I feel like she is appropriately paying her dues in this situation and won’t be pressing for anything further,’ concluded angelbabyzz.
Several of the responses from Reddit make the usual jokes about how this could only happen in the US, plus shared scepticism about whether the dog was really responsible. Even if it was, that still means the gun was left lying around for the dog to mess with, which is obviously extremely dangerous.
Others, however, are just relieved no one was hurt and angelbabyzz has since said that despite how it looks, the damage done to the PC isn’t that bad, though they may still need to buy a replacement.
‘I have some nerdy friends taking a look at it and while the PSU (power supply unit) and GPU (graphics processing unit) don’t seem to be damaged, there’s a lot of tiny bits of tempered glass in them and it may not be possible to get it all out. Mama wants a new GPU anyway so I’m not too mad.’
