Emma Stone wants co-stars and close friends to use her given name, Emily, the actress revealed in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, published Wednesday.

The subject came up as Stone and her “The Curse” co-star Nathan Fielder discussed their working relationship on the Showtime show with the outlet. Fielder was the first to address the issue.

“Before we continue, I’d like to say something. Her name’s Emily, but she goes by Emma professionally,” he said. “So when there’s people that don’t know her, I end up saying Emma. But I’m going to just say Emily from here on.”

Stone clarified that, in her professional life, normally only the people she works with closely use her given name. But if a fan were to refer to her as Emily, she would be more than happy.

“That would be so nice. I would like to be Emily,” she explained.

The two-time Oscar-winner said she originally switched to Emma professionally because there was already someone registered as “Emily Stone” with the Screen Actors Guild.

But at some point in recent years, the “Poor Things” actress became fed up with her chosen moniker.

“I freaked out a couple of years ago,” she continued. “For some reason, I was like, ‘I can’t do it anymore. Just call me Emily.’”

She also shared that Fielder tends to make it easier on everyone, and just calls her, simply, “Em.”

During a 2018 appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Stone claimed she chose “Emma” as her stage name because her favorite Spice Girls member was “Baby Spice,” whose real name is Emma Bunton.
