A man has been charged with attempted murder after two Jewish men were stabbed in Golders Green.
The attack on Wednesday shocked the capital after two Jewish men were stabbed on the street in north London.
It led to the UK terror level being raised to ‘severe’ following the incident, which saw Shloimet Rand, 34, and Moshe Ben Baila, 76, injured.
Now the suspect, Essa Suleiman, 45, of Camberwell, has been charged following a counter terrorism police’s investigation.
The stabbings in Golders Green led to a massive emergency response on Wednesday
He was charged with two counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of a bladed article in a public place in relation to the attack.
Suleiman has also been charged with attempted murder in relation to a separate incident on the same day on Great Dover Street, Met Police said.
He is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court today.
Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said yesterday that London’s threat level is now at its second-highest level.
He said: ‘I would urge all Londoners and visitors to remain calm and vigilant, and to report anything suspicious to the police.
‘There will be additional police officers on London’s streets over the coming days – including additional armed officers – they are there to help our police service to keep us all safe. Particularly London’s Jewish communities who we know have been targeted and are feeling particularly afraid following recent attacks.
‘Those who seek to harm and divide us through barbaric acts of terrorism will never succeed. We will never be cowed by terrorism.’
