Charges are pending for a suspect who police said opened fire at a man and a woman he knows, killing them Thursday night inside an Austin home.
Around 10:45 p.m., a witness heard gunshots coming from the basement of a home in the 800 block of North Parkside Avenue and called 911, Chicago police said.
A 47-year-old woman was shot in the chest and a 27-year-old man was shot in the body, according to police. Both were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where they died.
Two guns were found at the scene and the shooter was placed in custody.
Area 4 detectives are investigating.
